My First Blog

This is my very first blog. I’m not a techie. I’m feeling pretty insecure about this website stuff. But hey, I’ve written a new book, and I want you to know about it. It’s called MOTHER LODE, and it placed in the top 5% of Amazon’s Breakthrough novel contest this year! That’s pretty exciting.

Did you know that more money was made from copper in Michigan than gold in California? Hmm, that’s hard to believe, but true. I’ll go into this more in a later blog, where I’ll also be showing you some videos, telling you about some fascinating history of Michigan, the origin of the pasty and a recipe for it, (no, not pastry and not pasties;) and the best places to visit in the Upper Peninsula, plus lots more.

A little bit about my book–

Was Catherine’s mysterious death a horrible accident — or
was it murder? MOTHER LODE is a psychological mystery set in the late 1800s during the heyday of copper mining in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. A rough frontier state, the story deals with dark secrets and twisted passions that lie as deeply below the surface as the copper this community thrives on.“Carol Sheldon is a master storyteller.  The historic details, the
film noir atmosphere, and the gradual revelations of each of the characters and their motivations are superb.  From the
first foreboding moment to the startling conclusion, this is a true page turner.  I could not put it down!”  –Vicki Weiland, Book Doctor and Board Member, Bay Area Independent Publishers Association

Till next time,

MOTHER LODE will be available on, (best) or at by late August, 2011
